A mindful workshop with local Artist Emma Burleigh

Mindful Painting for your daily life, your inner life or your travelling life

Taught by local artist Emma Burleigh

In this workshop you’ll be encouraged to play with a wide range of art materials to uncover fresh and evocative expressions of your experiences. This workshop will explore texture in all its forms.

No experience is necessary – these workshops are suitable for beginners and for more experienced artists looking for fresh approaches to painting, and they’re open to anyone from 11 years old to 111 years old!

The emphasis is on mindful play and experimentation. For Emma art is a way to explore both our inner world and our relationship with the world outside. These workshops will teach you some traditional skills but the emphasis is on using art as a contemplative and joyful, personal practice.

£25 per person
£22 each if you bring a friend!
£15 concession

About Emma Burleigh:

Emma is a practising artist currently working on her graphic novel alongside many smaller paintings and illustration commissions.
She has an MA with Distinction in Authorial Illustration from Falmouth University and a first class degree in Fine Art and English from Exeter Uni.
Teaching has always been a key part of her practice and until 2010 she was Head of Art at Didcot Girls’ School, a large comprehensive in Oxfordshire. She’s held a PGCE in Art and Design from Oxford Brookes since 2003.
Emma is passionate about helping people to uncover their creativity. Emma’s particular interest in both her teaching and her own artistic practice is the relationship between mindfulness, spirituality, and creativity. She began meditating in 2003 to help manage her stress as a teacher in a busy secondary school. From 2010 to 2012 she lived as a member of the Buddhist community at Gaia House in Devon and her meditation practice is very much at the centre of her life. To date she has calculated she has spent more than 52 weeks of her life on silent meditation retreats!
